Bonjou tout moun! That's "Good morning everyone" in Creole. I hope this post finds you all well. Things are going great here at Project 127 Haiti. This is a busy time of year for us. We have a lot going on and we could sure use your prayers.
First, an update on the last trip to Haiti. Jim Rice recently spent a week in Haiti working on some projects around the children's home. The main purpose of his trip was to try and get our well functional again, since it was damaged in the earthquake. We had hoped we could maybe repair it and not have to dig a new well. But, as things usually go in Haiti, that wasn't the case so it's on to plan B. Plan B is to dig a new well. He was able to repair a damaged foot valve on the pump, which gave us some water flow, but not nearly enough to provide for all our needs.
This leads us to an exciting opportunity that God has brought our way. We have located a ministry in Texas that builds well drilling machines. It turns out that we can purchase a drilling machine for what it would cost us to drill a new one in Haiti. It is being built now and we are going to be able to buy it at a very discounted rate because we will be using it for ministry. This opens up a whole new area of ministry in Haiti for us, as we can hopefully start drilling wells around Haiti for those who don't have clean water. We can use this opportunity to minister to the communities that we are drilling in.
There is obviously some big prayer needs for all of this to happen though. We will still need to ship the drilling machine to Haiti when it is completed. We will also need to purchase a truck to pull the machine, since it will be mounted on a trailer. We could either buy one in the States and ship it to Haiti, or we could just buy one in Haiti. We are looking at several options right now. Thank you so much to all of you who have already helped us raise money to put towards the well.
We are gearing up for two big mission teams that will be coming to Haiti this summer. The first group consists of about 12 people from Georgia and NC and will be coming June 21-28. The second group consists of about 20 people from Texas and NC and will be coming July 26-Aug. 2. We are very excited about many new team members who will be taking there first mission trip to Haiti. These will be primarily ministry outreach teams that will be sharing the Gospel in some of the most remote parts of Haiti.
Again, thank you all so much for your prayers and help in God's work in Haiti. We couldn't do it without you. It is an honor to consider each of you partners of Project 127 Haiti!
God bless you,
Steve Horne
