April 2010 Update

Hello again everyone. First of all, let me say thank you again for your continued prayers and support of Project 127 Haiti. God has truly used each and every one of you to be a huge blessing to our ministry in the past few months. We have some exciting things happening in the coming summer months!

Just over the past two weeks, we were able to take 2 different groups on short term mission trips to Haiti. The first group was a leadership team from Conyers, GA. We did some planning and scouting for a group from their church that will be going back to Haiti in June. We were able to travel by boat to the island of Gros Caye which lies just off of the coast of Aquin. It was our second trip to this remote island that is cut off from the rest of Haiti. We met with the leaders of two different communities on the island to plan our outreaches there in June. They are very excited about our group coming back to minister to them. We also gave them a New Testament radio that is solar and hand crank powered so they can listen to the Word of God in their own Creole language. This is a great gift for them because many of them cannot read and don't have access to Bibles. We can't wait to get a report in June on how the listening groups are doing. We also purchased some supplies for the group from King's Way Baptist Church that was coming in the following week.

The King's Way group worked on some much needed projects at the children's home throughout their week in Haiti. They built bunk beds, tiled the kitchen, painted, built shelves, and worked on several other projects around the house. They also delivered lots of new clothes and supplies to all of our kids and leaders in Haiti. These have been very hard to find since the January earthquake. The group also held services each night at the Youth Shack Church that meets at the children's home, and saw around 150 attend each night. Praise the Lord!

Things in Haiti are still very bad from the earthquake. As we flew into Port au Prince, we could see all of the tent cities that have sprung up all over the country. These people are still struggling to get back to as normal a life as possible, but for most Haitians, their lives will never be the same. Please continue to pray for the people who have been affected by the earthquake. Praise the Lord that all of our people and our home was spared any major damage.

Over the next few weeks and months, we will be installing a new well and water treatment system at our children's home. We will also be taking several short term mission groups. Please continue to pray for the Lord's work in Haiti.

I have also posted some pictures of our new kids who recently moved in. If you would be interested in sponsoring one of these children, email me at steve@project127.org and I can give you all the necessary information.

Thank you and God bless,
Steve Horne
