Hello again everyone! It's hard to believe another year has gone by. It has now been two years that our kids have been in their current orphanage. We have seen God move in some miraculous ways in the past two years. God has used each and every one of you to play a role in the success of our work in Haiti. We could not do it without the prayers and support of all of you. For this we say , "Thank You and God bless you for your kindness." Here is look at what God has allowed us to do in the past year.
-We took 4 groups to our orphanage in 2009. We were able to do outreach, evangelism, construction, and our very first medical clinic.
-We have had three of our kids adopted to the States, and added two more young boys to our orphanage.
-We have provided a Christian education for each of our kids.
-We have encouraged the growth of the Youth Shack Church at the orphanage.
-We have started the construction on our second level which will give us more space, more bedrooms, and a place for a bakery (This project is about 75% complete.)
-We have began outreach to a neighboring island off the coast of Haiti, and hope to start a church there eventually.
*Please understand that by saying "we", Project 127 Haiti does not take credit for any of it. We know it is only through the grace and provisions of Jesus Christ that we are able to minister in Haiti.
Here is what is in store so far for 2010:
-We hope to complete the second level and get the bakery up and running soon.
-We also plan to extend our ministry to the island and build a church there.
-We plan to build a new Youth Shack Church for our kids at the orphanage.
-We already have 5 groups signed up for short term missions trips to our orphanage.
Year End Contributions: Although we have been extremely blessed, we are operating on a short fall for the 2009 year. If anyone would like to make a contribution at this time, it would be greatly appreciated and 100% will go to the ministry in Haiti. You can send your contribution to Project 127, PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075. (Just note on the donation "Haiti.")
If anyone is interested in going on a short term missions trip with us or becoming a monthly sponsor, contact me at steve@project127.org.
Again, thank you so much for prayers and support over the past year. We hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
God bless you all,
Steve Horne

Building Update
Hello again everyone! I pray that as summer winds down, you all are doing well. We are excited about what God is doing with our building program in Haiti. Our second level addition and bakery is in full swing. This is also a great opportunity for you to get involved and invest in eternity.
Phase I of our building was recently completed. This included construction of all the outer and inner walls. It has been paid in full. Praise the Lord!
Phase II is currently under way now. This includes a full galvanized metal roof and partial concrete roof to hold our cisterns. It has been paid in full as well. Praise the Lord!
Phase III will hopefully begin soon. This includes plastering all the outer and inner walls and readying them for paint, and also running all the electrical.
Here's how you can help. First let me express the importance of this project. It will give us two extra bedrooms which can house several more kids. It will also give us space for a bakery. This is very exciting, because our older kids will be able to work a few hours in the morning in the bakery. This will teach them responsibility as well as raise money for themselves and for the orphanage. It will also give us a large meeting room where we can hold Bible Study.
This phase will cost us about $6,000. We had two large donors (one private businessman and Rehoboth Baptist Church in Conyers, GA), that funded phases I and II. We now need to raise the entire $6,000 for phase III so we can begin the construction as soon as possible. This is your chance to put your faith into action and make a huge difference for Jesus Christ! We know this is a tough time to raise money, but we believe that God will provide our needs. We know someone out there can help us with this project.
You may send checks to Project 127 PO Box 321, Harrisburg NC 28075 (note on the check for Haiti building). If you can't give, please pray for us that God will provide.
We are also in the planning stages of a big fundraising program that could help our orphanage in a huge way. You will receive more details about this in the near future.
If you have any questions, email me at steve@project127.org. Thank you for your prayers and support!
God bless you,

June 09 Trip Update
Hello Everyone! I am very excited to bring you all this update on what God is doing in Haiti through Project 127. A group of nine of us just returned from spending a week in Haiti. There were 3 staff members from Rehobeth Baptist Church in Social Circle, Georgia, 4 of us from King's Way Baptist Church in Concord, NC, and 2 young ladies from Central Church of God in Charlotte. The main purpose of our trip was to deliver the money to the builder that Rehobeth had raised for our bakery and second level construction. This building project is made possible because of this donation and another large donation from an individual. Praise the Lord! You guys are awesome.
We arrived in Haiti on Wednesday, June 24th and drove the 4 hours to our orphanage in Aquin. We said hello to the kids and prepared for our first day of ministry. On Thursday, we hired a boat and went to a very small island off the coast about 30 minutes away. We gathered all the people from the village around and had a great service. They sang for us; we sang for them; we had a competition for the kids, and Pastor Frank Penley preached. It was awesome to see how the people responded and several people gave their lives to Christ. One young man in particular stepped out of his spot at the back of the church and came up to the front so we could pray for him. This was a huge step for him, because he left all his buddies at the back of the church.
On Friday, we drove up into the mountains and hiked about 30 minutes to a remote church in the village of Leje. We sang some songs in English, some in Creole and had a time of worship with the locals there. Pastor Frank preached again and we saw God move through the people that had came out. Several members of the group stayed back at the orphanage and prepared for the opening night of our "special" youth shack service. That night, we had a great service with our kids and the community surrounding the orphanage. We sang some more and Farrell Burton preached a message through our translator.
On Saturday, we spent some quality time with our kids and prepared for the final Youth Shack service. We had challenged all the kids the previous night to bring visitors with them. At the service we gave out special gifts to the people who had brought the most visitors, and everyone that came got a little gift as well. This was a special service because we got to witness how our Youth Shack kid's church has grown into a legitimate church with kids and adults, that is led completely by our kids. Belony, our 14 year old pastor, brought the message, and our lives were touched by witnessing the Spirit of God on him.
Sunday morning, we decided to have a special time of testimonies and songs with our kids. We sang in English, Creole, laughed, and cried as each member of our group and each child at the orphanage stood up and shared what God has done in our lives. It was a special time for all of us. After church, we headed to the beach for a day of fun with all of our kids.
Monday was a ground-breaking day of ministry for our group. Each time I have visited Haiti, I have stared out at the large island that sets off the coast of Aquin called Gwo Cayes. It is a large island with thick vegetation and lots of forests and trees, which is actually unlike most of mainland Haiti. I have always wondered what it would be like to visit this island, but had no way to get there, as it is very isolated. We decided as a group to try and visit this island and hold an open air meeting where we would sing some songs for them and then Pastor Frank would share with them. After locating a guy with a small boat, and waiting over 3 hours for him to prepare his little boat, we boarded for the 40 minute ride to the island. As we approached the island, I think we all became a little nervous. We sailed up to the coast and into a narrow waterway that snaked back through a grove of trees. It didn't help any that the boat captain told us on the way over that it was breeding season for sharks in the waters right under our boat! We got out of the boat and waded through knee deep water, then walked through tall grass and trees until we came to a small village of about 15 huts. We gathered everyone around and sang for them, and Frank shared with them and challenged them. It was awesome to see how attentive they were. Most of these people had never seen outsiders, as they had never left the island. It was truly tribal missions. After we finished, this one man stood and said he would like to say something. He said they didn't have a church anywhere on the island, and they would love to learn more about Jesus, but they didn't have anyone to teach them. He said he had been praying for someone to come and tell them and we were an answer to his prayers! WOW!!!! We were also fortunate to have taken several of our boys with us to this island. As we were leaving, we asked Belony if we would put a church on this island, would he be willing to visit several times a month to teach them. He jumped at the idea! This may be a little way out, but we are praying about how to work out the logistics of this. It looks like God may be leading us to start our second church in Haiti! On Monday night we gathered everyone around in the street outside our hotel and had a street meeting. We sang again, and I preached a message to them on the importance of preparing for God's Team.
On Tuesday, we returned to Port au Prince and checked into a hotel and relaxed for our last night. We left early Wednesday morning to return home, each of us being greatly changed from the person we were when we left home. This is why we do missions: not only to help people, but to see how God uses that to change our own lives and draw us closer to Him. Now we get to share this with everyone at our work, schools, and churches.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been praying for us and our ministry. We are seeing God open some big doors in Haiti. Please continue to pray for the following things:
monthly budget (almost $2000, of which we are almost always short)
construction of addition and bakery
leadership of bakery
our church in Haiti (we need to build a permanent structure for them to meet in)
possibly starting our second church on Gwo Cayes
God bless you all,
Steve Horne

June Update
Hello again everyone. It is such an exciting time in Haiti right now. God is doing some big things. A group of 9 of us will be leaving Wednesday morning June 24th for a week long missions trip to our orphanage. We will be holding six evangelistic services in 4 days in remote villages as well as at our orphanage. We are so excited as this will give us a chance to visit several of the villages that we held a medical clinic in in April. We will also be working on some projects at the orphanage with our kids. I am grateful for the group from Rehobeth Baptist Church in Social Circle, Georgia that will be going down with me. They have been such a blessing to our work in Haiti.
This is also a big week for our work in Haiti for another reason. Construction started Monday on the second level to our orphanage that will house a meeting room, more bedrooms, and a bakery. This has been a project that we have been praying about for a while now, and we are excited to see God allowing it to happen. Thank you so much to Rehobeth Baptist and an anonymous business man who donated the money to fund this project. What a blessing!
Please pray for our safety this week and that we will be able to reach lots of people with the message of Jesus Christ. If your church would like for me to come and share about our work in Haiti, I would love to. Just send me a message or email. If you would like to sponsor our orphanage in Haiti, let me know. We could not continue without the help and sacrifice of kind people like you.
God bless you all,
Steve Horne

Trip Update
Hello everyone. Sorry it's been a few days since I last posted. After only one post in Haiti, we lost internet service and never got it back. The joy and unpredictability of third world countries! Our team just made it back to the States last night and we have some huge praises to report.
In four days of clinic, we were able to see almost 500 patients. It was incredible to be out in these remote villages in south Haiti and witness all the people coming out to be treated with free checkups and medicine. We had the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and see some very sad cases. We were able to provide medical relief, even if only for a day, to lots of suffering people. We ask ourselves, was it worth it and the answer is, absolutely! These people deserve to have that relief, even if temporary. But beyond that, we were able to share with them that they have a hope and relief that is eternal and is found only in Jesus Christ. Before we started each clinic day, we would get all the patients together with our team and praise God in song and prayer. We wanted them to know why we came to Haiti to do this. We wanted them to see God's love in us. I John 4:19 says, "We love because he first loved us." That was our whole purpose in going. I would like to give a special thanks to the great team from Miller Evangelical Christian Union in Brooklyn for a great trip! They are what made the week so great!
God led us every step of the way, and nothing happens by accident. We had planned to return to Port au Prince on Sunday evening, and fly home on Monday morning. Upon arriving in Haiti, we learned that Sunday was election day, and that no one was allowed to travel on the road for safety reasons. This changed our plans in a big way by causing us to return to PAP a day early on Saturday. We were all disappointed because we had planned on spending all Saturday with our kids at the beach. Not knowing what plan God had in mind, we returned to PAP Saturday afternoon and planned to relax until Monday morning. Sunday afternoon, we learned why God had worked it out like this. We were introduced to a man that lived just up the street from the guesthouse where we were staying. His name is Jonas, and he invited me, Farrell and Andrew Burton, and Pastor Taitt (from NY) to visit his house. He showed us all around and then invited us in for Cokes. As we sat on his couch, he began to share with us about his life, and we could see that he was searching for something. We were able to share with him how Jesus is the something that can fill that void, and we all bowed our heads and Pastor Taitt led him to Christ! What a great final day of our trip. God makes no mistakes. Just a little love can change someone's life for eternity.
I ask you today, are you sharing that love with the people you meet? Let's try and not get so much in a hurry, that we don't see the people God puts in front of us. I pray that you will take the time to share His love. Remember, "We love because He first loved us."
God bless you all,
Steve

Update From Haiti
Hello again everyone. We are on day three and having a great trip in Haiti. Yesterday we held or first day of the medical clinic in Aquin and saw over 100 patients. We were able to treat them for various illnesses and pray with them after they were treated. God is doing some great things here. We have 3 more days of clinic and are getting ready to leave for our second location. Keep praying!

Off To Haiti
We will be taking a group of almost 30 to Haiti on Sunday night for a week long missions trip. This trip will have a huge medical emphasis as we will set up clinics in four different villages in four days. We will also be holding vacation Bible School meetings each night in our Youth Shack and these villages.
We have recently had lots of clothes, supplies, and money donated for our kids in Haiti. I cannot say enough how appreciative we all are for your giving. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We couldn't do it without your support and prayers.
I hope to do an ongoing update several times during our trip to let you all know how the Lord is working. Of course, this will depend on internet access, which is very sparse in Haiti. Check back next week to see if this works out!
Thanks again for everything and God bless you all!

Spring is Here
Spring is here, and for us at Project 127, this is when we are busy planning our summer trips to Haiti. We have some exciting things coming up!
On Monday, April 13th, seven people from King's Way Baptist Church and 22 from Brooklyn, NY will be heading to Haiti for a week long medical missions trip. We will be setting up in four different villages and seeing patients for various medical problems. This will be an exciting opportunity to not only treat them medically, but also to share about Jesus with them. While all this is going on, we will also have a team at the orphanage working on various projects such as clean up and organization.
We will finish up each night with vacation Bible school and services at the Youth Shack at the orphanage.
We have a team from Rehoboth Baptist in Social Circle, GA, coming down to Haiti on June 24th. We will be starting the construction on the second level of our orphanage. This will give us more bedrooms, a meeting room, and also space for a bakery. This church has been an awesome blessing to Project 127 Haiti since our beginning, and they have once again pledged to raise $10,000 towards the construction. Praise the Lord!
Lake Norman Christian School in Huntersville, NC has recently committed to help raise the tuition for all our kids to go to school next year. What a blessing this will be. They will be holding a big fund raiser event in May called "Hike for Haiti." I will also be speaking at their chapel service next Tuesday, March 31st. We are so happy to have them on board with us.
As you can see, God is doing some awesome things in Haiti. We could not continue to minister there without your help. If you would like to help, here's how you can:
-Pray for us and our kids
-Sponsor on a monthly basis or a one time gift (we still have a huge need in this area)
-Pray about going on a trip to Haiti with us
If you would like to donate (all donations tax deductible), please send it to Project 127 PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075.
God bless you,
Steve Horne

Praise the Lord!
We just returned back from Haiti. What an amazing trip God let us be a part of. Sorry about the lack of updates, which I had hoped to make on the trip. Each time we went to the internet cafe to post, the service was conveniently down.
We flew into Port-au-Prince on Wednesday evening and spent the night there. We got up early Thursday morning and drove to Aquin and saw the kids for a little bit and dropped off Rusty Baker at the orphanage to work on some projects during the week. That afternoon we drove down to au Cayes and showed the Jesus film in a small church there and spent the night. Friday morning we drove to St. George where we boarded a little boat for a 45 minute ride to a small island just off the coast of Haiti. When I say small, I mean very small. You could walk the whole island in less than 1 hour. We showed the Jesus film there and headed back to Aquin Friday afternoon. On Saturday we drove to the mountains to a village called Leje, where we parked and hiked up the mountain and showed the Jesus film that night. Sunday morning we were in church in Aquin, and then headed out to St. George and showed the Jesus film in a small church, where we had over 600 people attend. Our kids from the orphanage accompanied us and helped out as well. Monday it was back to Port-au-Prince and then we flew home Tuesday.
The best part of it is that over 1,000 people saw the film and heard the presentation of the Gospel in four days. We saw over 160 people accept Christ as their Savior! What an awesome experience to think that God allowed us to even be a part of this. Along the way, we also did lots of planning for groups that will be coming to Haiti in the coming months. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for us and continues to do so on a daily basis. God is doing great things in Haiti!
God bless you,

Back to Haiti
Here we go again. I am so excited. On Wednesday, Feb. 18th, Sam Danjoint and I will be traveling to Haiti for a very exciting 7 days. We have lots of stuff on the agenda, almost too much, but it should be a very productive trip. First of all, we will be preparing all the necessary details for a large medical group from Brooklyn that will be traveling to Haiti with us in April. We also have lots of video footage to take for our annual missions conference at King's Way Baptist Church in March. Then, the most important part of our trip is the evangelistic part. We will be traveling to a different village each day and preaching and showing the Jesus Film at night. We hope to visit four different villages while we are there. Please pray for us to have safe travels while we are gone.
Check back to my blog during the week and I will try and update several times while in Haiti. This may be difficult because we will have very limited internet access, but I'll try. Let's pray that God gives us big crowds and open hearts to hear His message. It's not about us, it's all about Him!
God bless you all,

New Year, New Hope
I love this time of year. It is a time of new beginnings and renewed energy. It is a time for us to get a fresh start with God. This is also an exciting time for our kids at our orphanage. They are looking forward to a new semester at school and a new year for visitors coming to the orphanage. It is also a very exciting time for several of our kids as their adoptions are nearing completion!
We have some exciting things planned for our ministry in Haiti in 2009. We will be taking numerous mission trips to the orphanage, and we will hopefully be building the next phase of our orphanage: a second level and a bakery. Please stay tuned to our website www.project127-haiti.com for new postings and details.
