December Update
Hello again everyone. I just returned from another successful trip to Haiti. It is awesome to see God at work in the lives of our children there. On Monday, we made a trip down to the new orphanage, along with all the boys. We took the table, chairs, mattresses, fans, stove, and many other items with us. The boys really enjoyed helping us move the stuff into their new house. They are so excited about the new opportunities that God is providing for them.
The road leading up to the orphanage has suffered a lot of damage from all the rain that has fell in south Haiti in the last month. It was difficult to navigate through all the ruts in the road, and at one point we had to push the truck after it got stuck in the mud. When we walked into the house, we were surprised to see several inches of water standing in the floor. Since the entire house is made from concrete, it didn't do any damage, but it took us several hours to mop it up. We just assumed it was from all the rain, but after closer inspection, we discovered it was leaking from the pipes running into the kitchen. This was a blessing that we didn't expect! It seems all the rain has started the water flowing in that area of town again. This means that for now there is water in the house, although not enough pressure to fill the cistern on the roof. With all that said, here is the situation on the water. We can go ahead and move the kids in with the amount of water we have now. As soon as the road dries out, they will be coming to fix the road and drill the well, which will permanently fix the problem.
Last Tuesday, the three older boys (Mika, Julmis, and Fito) were heading back to the capital after helping us move the stuff into the house. They were traveling with one of our helpers in the truck that we often use while in Haiti. The axle broke on the front of the truck which sent it flipping over and totalled the truck. It was a very serious accident, but miraculously, none of the four involved had even a scratch. After seeing the truck, it was hard to believe they weren't killed. It was a clear testimony to the kids that God had his hand on them and was protecting them. Praise the Lord!
Please pray about this: This Saturday, the kids will be leaving the capital and moving into their new home. Next week they will be taking placement exams in their new school. This will let the teachers know where to place them when the new semester starts in January.
Here is a list of additional prayer requests: Pray that the kids will adjust in their new home and community, pray for Marie (the house mother of all the kids), pray that God will help us meet the financial costs of operating the orphanage every month, pray that God will help us solve the transportation problem we now have since our helper's truck was wrecked, and pray that God will help us meet the need of school tuition for the kids (school is not free in Haiti, and we will need to come up with about $125 per child).
Also, please view the short thank you messages several of the kids gave. We hope it will bless you as much as it blessed us! It is so cool to see how Jesus Christ has changed their lives, and how He is shaping them to be great Christian leaders in the future!

Well Update / January Mission Trip
Hello again everyone. I wanted to give another update on how things are going in Haiti. The kids are all doing great. They are very excited and anxious about moving into their new orphanage and enrolling in their new school. Still, the only thing holding us up is getting the well drilled at the orphanage. I spoke with the company that is going to drill for us and they came out and looked at the property to get an idea about the drilling location. Because of all the rain from Tropical Storm Noel, there are now huge ruts in the road, where the water ran off the mountain. They are going to have to let the road dry out more, and then come in with a dozer to fix the road before they can get their drilling rig to the property. This means more time and more money, but we still hope to have the well finished by the first or second week of December. I will be back in Haiti the last week of November meeting with the company again to assess the situation. We also hope to move most of the furniture and belongings to the orphanage so it will be ready as soon as the well is finished.
We will be taking our first missions group in to the new orphanage the week of January 20-26th, 2008. We still have several spots open, so if you are interested, email me at steve@project127.org ASAP for more details. You don't want to miss out on this exciting adventure. We will spend the week doing some painting and work projects, as well as evangelism and outreach in the community.
Please keep praying for these kids and their new home!

Well/Storm Update

I just wanted to give a quick update on things in Haiti. The kids are still doing great and excited about moving into their new home. I have spoken several times to the organization that is going to drill the well. They have gotten backed up with all the rain from tropical storm Noel, and it looks like they won't get to us until the first of December. I'll be going down in a few weeks to meet with them and set everything up. The kids are all safe from the storm. They got lots of rain, but no major flooding where they are at. Praise the Lord! Please continue to pray for them.

Oct. 18, 2007 - The Success of the H.O.P.E Tour

I cannot even begin to tell you how successful the H.O.P.E. was. For those of you who are not familiar, we brought 11 kids from our orphanage in Haiti to the States. They were here from Feb. through July. It was a culture shock from the moment they got on the plane in Port-au-Prince.

They were able to experience many things that they would not have had the opportunity to experience in Haiti. They had the chance to perform in over 40 churches and share hope with everyone they met. They also went to the zoo, to Washington DC, to New York City, and to Carowinds (amusement park.) Most importantly they heard for the first time in their lives that Jesus Christ loved them, and all 11 accepted Jesus as their Savior!

As they returned to Haiti, we wondered how well they would adjust back to life there. I can tell you with great joy that they are now thriving back in Haiti. They now walk around with confidence as they share Jesus with other people. Instead of being looked down upon, they are now looked up to as leaders. There is a difference in them that is noticeable to everyone they come in contact with.

Thanks to everyone who made the H.O.P.E. tour a SUCCESS!
